Our process
New Again Deck Renewal uses a multistep, environmentally friendly process to restore your wood:
- We give you a written quote detailing the work to be completed.
- A chemical is applied to the wood to loosen the existing stain. We are very careful to avoid or protect your plants, grass and other sensitive areas. We respect your home as we would our own.
- A power washer is used to gently and safely clean and prepare the surface for staining.
- A neutralizing, brightening agent is applied to the wood. This brings the wood back into pH balance and helps it resist mold
- The wood is left to dry to a moisture content of 12 percent or less (we have a moisture meter to electronically gauge the moisture in the wood). Drying can take one to several days, depending on the weather.
- If needed, we lightly sand any seats or handrails.
- We stain/seal the wood by hand with a penetrating, enduring oil-based stain/sealer in these colors. This stain/sealer protects your wood from the sun, water and algae.
